More often we are finding our older generation are becoming asset rich and cash poor. Quite often they are still in their family home in a premium location and are struggling to maintain the large house and garden, let alone the pay utility bills to live in a comfortable environment.
In a lot of cases they have lived in their area for a significant period of time and have no desire to leave the area and are not ready, nor want to, go into a Retirement Village.
With every council being required to re-zone areas close to public transport, shops and infrastructure there has been an increasing number of developments in each area ranging from large scale and boutique Apartment Blocks and Townhouses. These developments have been popular for downsizers as it allows them to stay in their area, has added security and are lock and leave allowing them to travel for extended periods.
